So put your money on a Ducky’s behind for just $5 dollars—or even better, get three numbers on three Duckies for just $10 dollars, and the coup de Ducky?, get six Duckies racing for you for just $20 ducks—err–bucks! All your money is going to make a bunch of Puerto Peñasco school children able to study more with the right kinds of supplies through the nonprofit organization, Adopt-a-Classroom, which helps thousands of kids in 13 schools, including one school in Port Lobo.
Sandy Spain and Barb Olszewski get together every year and throw a great old fashioned pancake breakfast and silent auction that raises money to pay the electric bills to keep the non-profit Esperanza Para Nueva Vida Community Center in San Rafael open during the summer. This has kept the kids off the streets and the parents learning skills such as sewing, haircutting and computer use for years…
Saturday July 4th is the date to mark on your calendar for this year’s Las Vegas Night for Charity, arguably the most fun event in Puerto Peñasco and a sell out every year since its inception. Again this year the event will be held in the beautifully appointed Los Volcanes ballroom in the Sonoran Sky Resort Condominium…
From early evening throngs of visitors moved in waves toward the Malecon for sunset, more beers and even more bandas and music, making the weekend one wild, colorful, continuous national Mexican party…These photos show that even the adjusted projections may not have been high enough.
Dates are set, tickets are selling at a quick pace, and RCPM is surely already looking forward to wrapping up their Spring tour at their favorite 3rd World cantina. In addition to traditional beach volleyball, we can always count on something unique from an Outta Town Productions event, and this year Luis brings us Tri-Ball, the newest and most challenging twist on volleyball to come about in decades. One reason for the exploding growth of fast, furious and fun Tri-Ball across the nation is that it is a perfect tournament game. It involves an addicting combination of three teams of co-ed 3’s simultaneously playing one ball over three nets attached to one center pole on a circular court. Did we say fast, furious, fun? Just imagine! Luis discovered Tri-Ball back in 2009, loved the fast play and saw immediately how it equalized the height advantage of traditional volleyball…

When Jon Sharp, a computer network engineer, and his wife, Mary, a nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix came down for the 2013 Super Bowl, they returned with a special momento of our little slice of paradise by the sea. While most visitors are satisfied with silver, serapes or straw hats, Jon and Mary came back with the ownership papers to a fully operational restaurant and bar business! And not just any restaurant and bar, mind you. This was the iconic two-story thatched roof establishment known at the time as Mexico Beach Bum, which had spent time under the name of Wrecked at the Reef and before that it was the La Palapa…
