When she left for Tucson, Dolores didn’t know when she would return; she just knew she would when she could. Keeping her condominium and maintaining contact with friends, visiting when possible kept her hopes alive until her parents’ health improved…
If you’ve ever explored the tide pools anywhere along the beaches of Puerto Peñasco on the Sea of Cortez, you’ve surely watched and/or played with an octopus or two. You may not know that those small ones you’ve…
About the only thing in common you’ll find with the four Sonoran Resorts is their quality construction and their position snuggling up to Sandy Beach in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico.
If you’ve ever picked up a copy of the Rocky Point Times and not read the clever quips by Cap’n Greg in his monthly column “Ask Cap’n Greg” as he answers questions from readers or just people on the street or in a bar with his unique style of irreverent humor, then you probably only read …
Those are the evenings, the mornings, the days, the sunsets that romantic Rocky Point gives us practically year around. Take one of those experiences and write about it to share with those less fortunate to have had the occasion to visit our wonderland of great times. And, who knows, like we’ve said before, if it was a great adventure for you, it will be enjoyed by many others as well, and you might just find yourself the winner of our travel writing contest called “The Best Job in the World”…
It’s a 2006 “Street Bob” Dyna with a load of extras, one owner, with only 8,200 miles on it. “Whoa!” you say. “What’s the catch here?” you ask. The catch is there’s going to be 499 other people who want the bike also, and they are willing to put up their $25 for a chance to get this bike because there are only 499 other people who are going to have a chance at this beautiful Harley.
Are you thinking about an experience you’ve had in Rocky Point that would be fun to share and the only thing holding you back is that the closest you’ve come to writing about one of your vacations was on a postcard to Aunt Emma in Evansville? The biggest difference between writing a travel article and what you wrote on that postcard is that in a travel article you’re not confined to that small space, you can use your computer instead of a pen and you can take the time to express the true essence of the experience you tried to convey to Aunt Emma in 20 words and a photo.
Have you started writing about that great memory you have of your last visit to Rocky Point? Or even the memory of your first visit? Whatever it’s about, remember if it was a great experience for you, it will probably be enjoyed by those who read it also. So don’t sit on it. Go ahead and get it in to us while we have time to evaluate it before the rush of entries prevent us from taking the time to offer any edit suggestions that might just separate your story from the crowd.
Back in January we published a blog about the abundance of helping hands from the American Community in Rocky Point featuring the selfless efforts of several residents of our community and how they helped the needy in several different charities locally. We wrote about Ron and Carol Okinga who, among other charities they help, were showing up at a small new Church every Saturday to cook a pancake breakfast for the neighborhood kids. The Church is called The Good Samaritan Church of God. You can read our blog about the church as it was then at https://www.sonoranresorts.mx/?p=3155 .
Even though you won’t be able to submit your travel article on “Why I Love Rocky Point” until one minute after midnight tonight, we want to give you access to the finalized Rules for entering the contest, including final details on the three prizes, and other good stuff to get your creative juices flowing in case you haven’t completed your literary masterpiece.
