Have you thought about what an incredible experience it would be to sit out on the balcony of your luxury suite in the renowned Sonoran Sky Resort looking out over the passionately peaceful Sea of Cortez and down at the soft sandy beach below you as you reflect back on the day, this day, today, the day you said to yourself, “You know, I can do this. I can write a great travel story about what we did the first time we discovered Rocky Point.” Then you clicked open a blank “Word” page and started tapping on your keyboard…
Located on the entrance road to the Sonoran Sea and Spa Resorts in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico is one of the most popular night spots in the area, Chango’s Bar and Grill, where everyone seems to stop by for a few dances and drinks at some point in the evenings from Thursday through Saturday when the band RoJo rocks the place until the wee hours.
Those are the evenings, the mornings, the days, the sunsets that romantic Rocky Point gives us practically year around. Take one of those experiences and write about it to share with those less fortunate to have had the occasion to visit our wonderland of great times. And, who knows, like we’ve said before, if it was a great adventure for you, it will be enjoyed by many others as well, and you might just find yourself the winner of our travel writing contest called “The Best Job in the World”…
It’s a 2006 “Street Bob” Dyna with a load of extras, one owner, with only 8,200 miles on it. “Whoa!” you say. “What’s the catch here?” you ask. The catch is there’s going to be 499 other people who want the bike also, and they are willing to put up their $25 for a chance to get this bike because there are only 499 other people who are going to have a chance at this beautiful Harley.
Are you thinking about an experience you’ve had in Rocky Point that would be fun to share and the only thing holding you back is that the closest you’ve come to writing about one of your vacations was on a postcard to Aunt Emma in Evansville? The biggest difference between writing a travel article and what you wrote on that postcard is that in a travel article you’re not confined to that small space, you can use your computer instead of a pen and you can take the time to express the true essence of the experience you tried to convey to Aunt Emma in 20 words and a photo.
Have you started writing about that great memory you have of your last visit to Rocky Point? Or even the memory of your first visit? Whatever it’s about, remember if it was a great experience for you, it will probably be enjoyed by those who read it also. So don’t sit on it. Go ahead and get it in to us while we have time to evaluate it before the rush of entries prevent us from taking the time to offer any edit suggestions that might just separate your story from the crowd.
We’ve received so many positive responses to our announcements about the Sonoran Resorts “Why I Love Rocky Point” Best Job in the World Travel Writing Contest that we know this is going to be an exciting adventure for everyone involved!
You know the saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Well, our new Sonoran Resorts Travel Writing Contest is about the “thousand words” because sometimes painting a picture with a thousand words is at least as effective at conveying the emotion, details and even the color, when it’s about a destination that you love. That’s because, with words, you can emphasize the story behind the beauty of a destination like Rocky Point.
If you couldn’t make it out Friday the 20th of July to the first fundraiser held for Puerto Peñasco’s new wheel chair basketball team, Los Rolling Rockies, you missed a picture-perfect evening of fun…
Tacos, Beer, DJ Music and Los Rolling Rockies wheelchair basketball team will all be happening at the Terramar Restaurant this Friday evening from 7:00PM to 11:00PM. The Terramar Restaurant is located right across from the Fonatur Marina and a block off Benito Juarez behind Las Palmas Artisans Market. (See photo) It’s a fundraising celebration for Los Rolling Rockies team who just returned from a memorial tournament in Navojoa, Sonora which, by the way, was their first official competitive event.
