The annual Perseid meteor shower begins its most illustrious sequence in the wee hours of Sunday August 11th (that would actually be after midnight Saturday, right?) Don’t worry if you don’t read this until Sunday morning. You haven’t missed the best show of this shower, which will get even better between 2:00AM and just before dawn on Monday and Tuesday when the darkest part of the northeastern sky will be streaked with an average of 50 meteors an hour.
When conducting research for the blog on Barb’s great Rubber Ducky Race in July, the rather creative term for a group of ducks, “a paddling” (along with several others as in the headline above), got us wondering how much fun it would be to see what words our imaginative ancestors came up with to describe groups of other animals. And sure enough, it was certainly an interesting delve into history, conflict and clever interpretation dating, in some cases, back to the 16th century…
After a successful event was held in the air conditioned luxury of the Sonoran Spa Beachfront Resort Condominium Lobby in July, it will return to that same location by popular demand for a one day exhibition on Saturday August 31st of Labor Day weekend. You’ll be able to satisfy your most pedantic arts and crafts cravings at this event from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM…
Disneyland. Wow! Just to visit would be a dream come true for most kids. But for 12 exceptional dance students from Destiny Dance Academy the Disney dream was taken to another memorable level when they were selected to represent not only Puerto Peñasco, but the country of Mexico and perform in two…
Well, El Pescadito is only new to our pond. It’s actually a 14 year old franchise operation with 28 restaurants nationwide and a very successful franchise concept involving proprietary recipes, secret sauces and dressings, cleanliness, training and service.

Throughout every year they have acted as the central distribution point, including delivery, to 11 schools in Rocky Point and one in Port Lobos a little over 2 hours drive south, helping provide educational supplies to nearly 10,000 kids…

The lobby of the Sonoran Spa Beachfront Resort Condominiums will be the place to get your arts and crafts fix on Saturday of this weekend from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM during a special edition of the popular Mermaid’s Market usually held in Plaza Camarón (Shrimp Plaza) when the weather is a bit more accommodating.
Peñasco Recreation, original organizers of the Mermaid’s Market with years of event management experience are wisely bringing the show into air conditioned comfort where it will be open to the public for shopping, browsing, learning and meeting new friends at the hospitable exhibitors’ booths—and all within full view of the sparkling Sea of Cortez…

And that they did! As it has been for the last four years, this was a joint effort of the American Nonprofit Corporation, Families Helping Families Mexico, Inc, their Mexican Nonprofit, Casas Perpetuales Parker, AC and Rotary International…
Her philosophy is that these kids have been abandoned enough, not to mention the abuse and/or neglect that goes along with dysfunctional familial behavior that leaves children as young as 2 years of age walking the streets in the middle of the night, alone and afraid; some so heavily laden with lice that upon delivery to Infantil de Amores shelter, in many cases it’s necessary to…
