I have become a Sonoran Sky Stalker (ok, not in a bad creepy way though). The live view cam over their pool deck is my lifeline to the beach. When I sit at my desk and it is 110’ outside (or more) I know that my favorite beach is only a four hour drive away.
After an easy motorcycle insurance purchase, a simple border crossing, and a beautiful wide road that meandered through the desert and sand dunes we arrived at our hotel on the beach. The salt air, clear blue water and resort complexes spoke to my husband’s sense of comfort.
Results from the scores of ten judges made after a blind reading of the 26 stories that qualified for the finals are now in and tabulated. The competition was as close as we thought it would be, with only a few points differentiating the second through fifth highest scoring stories. The Grand Prize winner’s story (published below) seemed to capture the hearts of the judges as it was a clear winner!
The contest ended in a flurry at midnight last night (Wednesday October 10, 2012) with several last minute entries arriving before the deadline. In about five days we’ll be announcing the winners of the Sonoran Resorts’ “Best Job in the World” Travel Writing contest, and the competition is going to very close!
How do you enhance one of the absolutely divine sunsets we are lucky enough to experience almost daily here in Puerto Peñasco? Imagine the beautiful “Amazing Grace” played on Scottish bagpipes timed to match the path of the golden sun as it melts into the western horizon in a
Driving on Benito Juarez toward the Malecón just past the Santander Bank on your left, you’ve probably noticed the sign for Rocky Point BBQ that’s been up since March of this year. There’s a lot more to the new Rocky Point BBQ than is visible from Benito Juarez because…
You probably know Luis Garrido of Outta Town Productions as the legendary beach volley ball organizer who brought his tournaments to Rocky Point for 19 years, along with thousands of participants and spectators which translated into substantial tourism revenues for the City of Puerto Peñasco. What you may not know is that back in 2010 during one of his beach volley ball tournaments Luis tested an idea he had for another altogether different type of activity that involved…
Living in a tropical area on the sea as we do here in Puerto Peñasco, the hobby of birding can become quite addictive. That’s because out of the nearly 10,000 species of birds on the planet; nearly 10% are endemic to Mexico. In addition, hundreds upon hundreds of species migrate here as “winter visitors” each fall and remain as our fair weather feathered friends until spring.
Have you thought about what an incredible experience it would be to sit out on the balcony of your luxury suite in the renowned Sonoran Sky Resort looking out over the passionately peaceful Sea of Cortez and down at the soft sandy beach below you as you reflect back on the day, this day, today, the day you said to yourself, “You know, I can do this. I can write a great travel story about what we did the first time we discovered Rocky Point.” Then you clicked open a blank “Word” page and started tapping on your keyboard…
