Saturday December 29th is the date set for the return of Steve McCarty and Friends to Puerto Peñasco. They will be appearing at Chango’s Bar and Grill located on the entrance road to the Sonoran Spa and Sonoran Sea condominium resorts to help Chango’s celebrate their fifth year as the “In” place in Puerto Peñasco.

When it’s Mexico, there are many colorful festivities, large and small, throughout the year to keep our appreciation for this country impassioned. One such event takes place on May 3 of each year. It’s called Día de la Santa Cruz (Day of the Holy Cross). It is two days after Mexico’s Labor Day and is celebrated mostly by the construction workers, mainly bricklayers.
Jaime Bejarano Martínez, a much loved institution at the Playa Bonita RV Park for 26 years lost his battle with lung cancer, succumbing to the disease on Good Friday, April 6, 2012 at the age of 60. Jaime is survived by his wife, barely ambulatory herself, and his namesake, Jaime, Jr., who must now fill Jaime’s shoes to support the family.
Chico moved to Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico in 1997 and worked as an auto mechanic for 10 years before opening his own shop in Rocky Point in 2007. He named it Autoservicios y Refacciones Arizona (Arizona Auto Service and Repairs). The name is no accident. He targeted the American tourists, especially those from Arizona, and residents in Rocky Point and set out to gain their trust, which he did very quickly.
