After an easy motorcycle insurance purchase, a simple border crossing, and a beautiful wide road that meandered through the desert and sand dunes we arrived at our hotel on the beach. The salt air, clear blue water and resort complexes spoke to my husband’s sense of comfort.
Results from the scores of ten judges made after a blind reading of the 26 stories that qualified for the finals are now in and tabulated. The competition was as close as we thought it would be, with only a few points differentiating the second through fifth highest scoring stories. The Grand Prize winner’s story (published below) seemed to capture the hearts of the judges as it was a clear winner!
The contest ended in a flurry at midnight last night (Wednesday October 10, 2012) with several last minute entries arriving before the deadline. In about five days we’ll be announcing the winners of the Sonoran Resorts’ “Best Job in the World” Travel Writing contest, and the competition is going to very close!
The sign says, “If you haven’t been to JJ’s Cantina, you haven’t been to Rocky Point.” That’s about as close as you can get to Truth in Advertising. Folks don’t simply ask you if you’ve been to JJ’s, they ask you if you’ve been to JJ’s yet.

There’s a lot more to the new Rocky Point BBQ than is visible from Benito Juarez because…
You probably know Luis Garrido of Outta Town Productions as the legendary beach volley ball organizer who brought his tournaments to Rocky Point for 19 years, along with thousands of participants and spectators which translated into substantial tourism revenues for the City of Puerto Peñasco. You can read more about Luis’ contribution to Rocky Point tourism and the sport of beach volley ball in our blog archive at https://www.sonoranresorts.mx/?p=2367.
What you may not know is that back in 2010 during one of his beach volley ball tournaments Luis tested an idea he had for another altogether different type of activity that involved…
Living in a tropical area on the sea as we do here in Puerto Peñasco, the hobby of birding can become quite addictive.
