Bob, however, is one of those guys, like many here in Rocky Point, who could and should have a book written about his life. In fact, he already has the title: “Trouble”. There just wasn’t enough action at his track down here, aptly named Thunder on the Beach Raceway, especially the type that could rustle up enough adrenaline to thread the veins of a guy who’s raced about every kind of vehicle and vessel that would hold enough horsepower to scale a six foot wall with one wrong move or take a 200 mph nitro-injected skip around a lake surface, or go so fast so quick it requires a parachute to stop.
A group of about 100 generous and dedicated youth from the Utah District of Rotary International Interact and Rotaract Youth Clubs arrived in our little slice of paradise by the sea to build a home for a deserving mother and her three children. And that they did! As it has been for the last four years, this was a joint effort of the American Nonprofit Corporation, Families Helping Families Mexico, Inc, their Mexican Nonprofit, Casas Perpetuales Parker, AC and Rotary International…
It’s just amazing what miracles the women of Puerto Peñasco can produce when they’re on a mission, and how many come together to help. To get them into the miracle-creating mode just mention the needs of children…because “it’s all about the kids…”
Her philosophy is that these kids have been abandoned enough, not to mention the abuse and/or neglect that goes along with dysfunctional familial behavior that leaves children as young as 2 years of age walking the streets in the middle of the night, alone and afraid; some so heavily laden with lice that upon delivery to Infantil de Amores shelter, in many cases it’s necessary to…
Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers are such a stand out rock and roll phenomenon and of near incalculable importance to the economy of our little slice of paradise by the sea, yet they are the first to say that it’s their fans, affectionately known as the Peacemakers, that make it all possible year after year. So in the spirit of one of the most loyal fan bases of any music group, we salute the Peacemaker Fans this year…
Giuseppi’s on Fremont Street will be the venue for a [non-political, purely charitable] Tea Party on Tuesday June 25th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Just bring a package of diapers and/or baby wipes to be a full participant in the party.
With more space, more decorations, more black jack tables, more Texas Hold ‘em tournament tables and improved layout, by the official opening time, it seemed the veterans from last year had already found their place at a black jack table, after sharing a sample of Puerto Peñasco’s own Tequila Peñasco of their choice from Charlie Muratore, located at the casino entrance right across from the registration table…
About four years ago, while I was perusing one of the Rocky Point forums, I read of a man who had a dire need of a job and Mark Olszewski’s efforts to help him find one. Mark mentioned the family’s little girl and their need for food and play things for her. Having a thing for kids, I was truly touched by his efforts.
A few days later, the week after Easter, I was in Walmart and saw a
The Duckies, 1500 of them, will be ceremoniously dumped from “About Time” charter fishing yacht, by Captain and owner Adolfo Perez and Mark Olszewski. Unparalleled seaman that he is, Mark will then immediately de-board the About Time into a kayak which he’ll maneuver (read: man handle) along with at least one other “Ducky Herder” to keep all the… (…you knew it had to start somewhere…) Duckies in a row, so to speak.
So many new happenings at this year’s Circus Mexicus extravaganza; not the least of which is an additional evening of music at Wrecked at the Reef—with Free Admission! Not only that, but the free concert Thursday night will feature none other than Brian Blush, original lead guitarist of The Refreshments, coming in from the Nashville band, The Toluenes…
