The first Saturday in April was a day of endless activities for all ages, and that includes the vendors who jumped right into the spirit of the day at this First Annual Pirates and Mermaids Extravaganza. The festive event was created by the organizers of Mermaid’s Market, Russ and Naomi Black along with some of their faithful exhibitors who have offered their arts, crafts, gifts, and clothes for the two years of Mermaids Markets held every first and third Saturday of the fall, winter and spring months.
The lobby of the Sonoran Spa Beachfront Resort Condominiums will be the place to get your arts and crafts fix on Saturday of this weekend from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM during a special edition of the popular Mermaid’s Market usually held in Plaza Camarón (Shrimp Plaza) when the weather is a bit more accommodating.
Peñasco Recreation, original organizers of the Mermaid’s Market with years of event management experience are wisely bringing the show into air conditioned comfort where it will be open to the public for shopping, browsing, learning and meeting new friends at the hospitable exhibitors’ booths—and all within full view of the sparkling Sea of Cortez…
On Saturday November 24th from 11:00AM until 4:00PM, local and visiting artists and crafts makers will gather once again in Fiesta Park of the Las Conchas residential community displaying their latest creations…
This Saturday will mark the 7th gathering of local arts, crafts and food vendors exhibiting their wares and products to the public of Puerto Peñasco. Since the first event on Saturday December 17, 2011, Mike McLaughlin’s original idea has proven a timely one for which the community was ready.
To truly appreciate this event is to understand that the word “Taste” in this moniker is used in its full nuance from the word “Sabor” in Spanish which refers to much more than just the taste of food. It idiomatically encompasses all that makes a place, a thing, or an atmosphere endemically and invitingly pleasing to ones senses, like its color, its culture, its art, its people, its music, its dance, as well as its traditional foods and drinks.
With this understanding, may you go forth and fully enjoy the cultural as well as the culinary flavors of colorful Puerto Peñasco, Sonora Mexico at the 5th Annual “Taste of Peñasco”! It all starts at 11:00 A.M. and runs until 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Plaza del Camarón (Shrimp Plaza) located on Benito Juarez across Fremont Street from City Hall.
