Attendance at this year’s 11th annual Bike Rally was up an estimated 30% over last year with about 4,00o riders joining the annual weekend migration of two wheel party animals. We hope you enjoy this pictorial showing the best of colors, customizing, cool paint and characters at this year’s Rally.
We’ll start with our vote for “Best of Show”:
No caption necessary except, besides the paint job on this custom buggy, those are some super speakers embedded in the body wells!
Our choice for runner up is this beauty by Marco Antonio Dominguez, owner and painter of “Pink Floyd” and last year’s winner in the competition. Marco gave his Harley a split personality depicting his two favorite albums by Pink Floyd. If you like his artwork, for a trip to Las Vegas and about $4,000 you can have your own theme painted in 3D. Contact Marco at artbymarco@yahoo.com.
A perennial favorite, Tiger Eyes, owned by Puerto Peñasco’s own Oscar Palacio, painted by Puerto Peñasco’s own, Geraldo. By the way, Oscar also owns the perennial favorite Bike Rally Party Spot, the Playa Bonita Hotel. Oh, and Oscar is also the one who started this whole Rally thing 11 years ago…and still goin’ strong! Oscar’s Tiger always has his Eyes on you!
The annual pub crawl Friday night on Calle 13 was full of color…and characters…
…But nothing compares to Saturday’s Festivities on the Malecon!
Mexicali Buggy
Sergio Hernandez Vera of The Grupo Kings from Mexicali, brought this Volkswagen-powered buggy that has been his “work in progress” for 20 years. His fellow Kings buddy, Fernando Santoyo, brought his tricked Honda with electronic fuel injectors and $700 worth of gorgeous hand-rubbed ghost smoke artwork.
A short break to look at the lookers on the Malecon!
Where the characters gather to watch the characters
On with the machines…random colors…lots of pride…fun to ride!
Now, this is a happy guy!
Cool Artwork on these three, eh?
There was a Party at the Party! The 1st Anniversary Party for Rocky Point Ramblings with Rosie and Russ. Their radio show on FM106.1 airs every Saturday from 12:00 to 2:00PM. This Saturday they were Live From The Malecon!
Here are some real three wheels and a sweet two seat ride…
The weird, the wired and another tricked out bike…
…And they gathered by the thousands along the Malecon…
Even as the throngs partied so hardy at the Malecon, hundreds filed out to join the annual parade that threads through the neighborhoods as the riders pitch candy to the crowds of excited children who are mesmerized by the bikes and the kindness of the riders. The parade launches from Winner’s Point on Fremont and ends at Chango’s at the entrance to the Sonoran Sea and Sonoran Spa Resorts on Sandy Beach.

My Wife and I own a home in Costa diamante and had a great time at the rally, we have missed a few in the last couple of years but will make sure we wont miss any more. All the bikers and biker babes were fun to watch, I wanted to invite every body over to the house but I think my wife would been pissed off so i changed my mind, this event is just what Rocky Point needs I think it should be twice a year.
